About Chaos Management

Chaos Management UK Ltd is a female-led event operations and safety consultancy supporting medium- and large-scale complex outdoor events in the UK and internationally.

We combine strategic and tactical leadership in event operations, event safety and crowd safety with a practical understanding of how complex events are planned and delivered. Our approach is clear, proportionate and grounded in live-event experience, helping organisers make well-informed decisions, manage risk effectively and maintain control from early planning through to live delivery.

Where additional resource or specialist input is required, we work with a trusted associate network to provide scalable support while retaining senior oversight and continuity.

Our History

Foundations in Live Event Delivery

Chaos Management began in 2006 as a freelance business, created to move beyond local event work and build a platform for supporting larger, more complex events across the UK and internationally. Chaos Management UK Ltd was incorporated in 2008 as the business continued to grow in scope, scale and ambition.

Its foundations were built through hands-on experience across live events, including technical delivery, stage and crew management, production, site operations, licensing and health and safety. This developed through senior production and event planning roles and self-employed event and production management across festivals, concerts, parades, theatre and public events.

An important turning point came with the decision to gain formal safety qualifications. Initially intended to strengthen the advice and representation provided to clients, particularly through Safety Advisory Group processes, it became the start of a much broader professional development journey. Further study in event safety management, occupational health and safety, crowd science, counter-terrorism risk management and event control progressively strengthened the safety and operational expertise that now underpins the business.

Evolving into Operations and Safety Leadership

As the business grew, so did a clearer understanding of the gap it could fill. Many events needed more than creative ambition and operational effort. They needed robust plans, clear documentation, proportionate risk management and experienced leadership to ensure the event worked in practice as well as on paper.

That recognition helped shape Chaos Management into a more defined event operations and safety consultancy, focused on helping organisers plan professionally, manage risk effectively and deliver well-controlled events.

As this expertise developed, particularly following formal qualification in event safety management planning, the business increasingly moved away from broader event delivery towards strategic and tactical operations and safety leadership, including operational planning, event safety management, crowd safety, emergency planning, event control and live delivery.

That evolution can be seen across work for events including Bearded Theory Festival, SO Festival, Preston Guild Festival, Victorious Festival, Tramlines, Port Eliot Festival and The Leadmill Live Events, alongside projects delivered for major event organisations including Festival Republic.

International Experience and Large Scale Projects

A further step in the development of Chaos Management came through senior international event roles, particularly in Saudi Arabia. Working within major, complex event environments broadened the experience underpinning the business and demonstrated the level of operational and safety leadership that could be applied across wider markets.

Roles including Operational Safety Manager for Formula 1 After Race Concerts and Soundstorm involved leading substantial safety teams within large, multi-disciplinary delivery structures. This experience strengthened strategic and tactical expertise in major event safety, operational coordination and live delivery, while reinforcing the ambition to grow Chaos Management in both the UK and international markets.

Director-led Support Today

Today, Chaos Management UK Ltd remains a director-led consultancy, combining senior strategic and tactical leadership in event operations, event safety and crowd safety with scalable support from a trusted associate network where required.

While the scale and complexity of the work have grown, the purpose remains the same: to help organisers plan and deliver well-controlled events through clear thinking, practical experience and proportionate solutions that work in the real event environment.

For clients, this means experienced senior input without unnecessary layers of management, with the flexibility to scale support as the event develops. The aim is always the same: clear decisions, practical solutions and confident delivery from planning through to the live event.
